Frequently asked questions.
Find answers to common questions about Clarity House and our sober living program. Clear expectations are part of how we operate.
No. Clarity House is a structured sober living home, not a clinical treatment facility. We provide a supportive living environment for individuals who have completed treatment or are actively engaged in their recovery. We do not offer clinical services, therapy, or medical treatment. However, we encourage and support residents in continuing any outpatient treatment or therapy they may be participating in.
No. Clarity House operates gender-specific residences — Christiana House is our all-men’s home, and Addison House is our all-women’s home (opening soon, with a waitlist available now). Separate residences remove distractions, deepen peer trust, and create a safer space to do the work of recovery. Both homes follow the same handbook, the same house standards, and the same level of care.
Yes, we believe community involvement is essential for long-term sobriety. Residents are required to attend recovery meetings (AA, NA, or approved alternatives) a minimum of 3–5 times per week. We support all evidence-based recovery paths and work with each resident to find meetings that fit their needs and schedule.
Yes. Curfew fosters structure, accountability, and safety. Our curfew times are designed to help residents establish healthy routines while ensuring a quiet, restful environment for everyone. Specific curfew times are discussed during the intake process and may vary based on employment schedules and time in the program.
Residents can stay as long as they remain compliant with house rules and demonstrate progress in their recovery. There is no maximum length of stay. We understand that everyone's recovery journey is different, and we work with each resident individually to determine the best path forward. Many residents stay 6–12 months, though some may stay shorter or longer depending on their needs.
Yes, visitors are allowed during set hours and with restrictions to maintain safety and sobriety. All visitors must be approved and are not permitted to use alcohol or drugs on the premises. Visitation policies help maintain a safe, recovery-focused environment for all residents.
Our rates are competitive and reflect the quality of our program and amenities. Pricing includes fully furnished rooms, utilities, WiFi, and access to all common areas. For all payment, deposit, and move-in questions, contact Greg Z directly at (708) 879-3098 — we understand financial situations vary and want to work with you to make recovery accessible. We can also provide information about potential funding sources and payment plans.
We understand that relapse can be part of some people's recovery journey. Our approach is compassionate but also focused on maintaining a safe environment for all residents. If a relapse occurs, it is handled on a case-by-case basis. In most cases, the resident will need to leave the house to seek treatment, but may be eligible to return after completing appropriate steps and demonstrating renewed commitment to sobriety.
Sober living homes are typically not covered by insurance, as we are not a treatment facility. However, we can help connect you with resources for financial assistance if needed. Some residents use savings, family support, or other funding sources. We're happy to discuss payment options during the intake process.
Yes! We strongly encourage employment as part of the recovery process. Working helps build structure, purpose, and financial independence. Our location offers convenient access to public transportation and employment corridors throughout Chicago, making it easy to get to and from work.
Rooms are fully furnished, so you'll mainly need personal items such as clothing, toiletries, and any personal effects. We provide bedding, towels, and basic household items. A detailed move-in checklist will be provided after your intake interview is complete. Please note that we have storage space for personal belongings, but space may be limited.
You can apply by completing our online application form or by contacting us directly by phone or email. After we receive your application, our team will reach out within 24–48 hours to schedule an intake interview. The interview helps us understand your needs and ensures Clarity House is the right fit for your recovery journey.
